JOB ROLE

About

Energy Vault

Energy Vault is the creator of renewable energy storage products that are transforming the world’s approach to utility-scale energy storage for grid resiliency. Applying conventional physics fundamentals of gravity and potential energy, the system combines an innovative crane design that lifts specially designed, massive composite blocks with a proprietary, cloud-based software platform which orchestrates the storage and discharge of electricity. Utilizing eco-friendly materials and manufacturing processes at unprecedented economics, Energy Vault is accelerating the shift to a fully renewable world.

About

The Role

As Senior Materials Engineer, you will lead the design and synthesis for the composite blocks/bricks in the energy storage systems. A director of the testing and processing procedures, you will write technical specifications, taking into account economic factors; you will also monitor how different materials perform and deteriorate, predicting and minimizing product failure. You’ll also perform root cause analyses when there are failures. The impact of materials processing on the environment will be important to you.

What

you will do

  • Translate in engineering specs the product requirements related to primarily the mobile masses, and potentially other energy storage system components.
  • Coordinate all major activities between key material suppliers (like CEMEX) and Energy Vault’s Engineering, Procurement, Product and Sales teams.
  • Negotiate key terms of contract related to materials used in the Energy Vault product platform.
  • Maintain the recipe of materials used within the Energy Vault product for: coal ash, recycled fiber glass, mine tailings, and other environmental components that we suspend inside our concrete blends specific to polymer binders.
  • Shape a culture of collaboration, innovation, constant improvement, excellence, transparency, open mindedness, humility, integrity, efficiency, joy, compassion, and fulfillment.
Qualified

Candidate should possess

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering and Materials Science.
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and evaluate new projects, consulting with other engineers and managers as necessary.
  • Track record of preparing proposals and budgets, analyzing labor costs, and writing reports.
  • Supervisory experience of supplier partners (e.g., CEMEX).
