The Role

We are seeking a Senior Industrial Control Systems Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about creating a world class control platform to enable the global transition to renewable energy. This role involves advanced Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technologies (OT) engineering as part of Energy Vault’s gravity storage solutions. You will be working alongside a team of industry leading mechanical, electrical, civil and software engineers to build storage systems that enable the global transition to renewable energy. As a senior ICS and OT engineer, you will be supporting a wide range of activities to develop a world-class platform to operate, maintain and monitor grid-scale storage system. You will be leveraging data sources, analytics and Artificial Intelligence services optimize system control and management. You should also be proficient in Python, Linux command line and capable of developing in a modern DevOps environment that leverages Git, unit testing, continuous integration and automated testing systems. This role includes collaborating with company leadership, customers and engineers from many disciplines to deliver a world-class software and services platform the unlocks the power of gravity storage.

What

you will do

  • Work with engineers to design, develop and implement a software and services platform capable of operating, maintaining and monitoring a grid-scale gravity storage system consisting of a variety of industrial mechanical and electrical components.
  • Support the development of a data model and communications infrastructure to efficiently transport, ingest and analyze ICS and other data types.
  • Design, develop and implement a cloud-based platform for O&M and ICS.
  • Develop analytic software that combines data from disparate sources (ICS, weather, power grid, market, etc.) data to provide predictive modes to optimize the control and management of power systems.
  • Support the development of a cybersecurity framework for protecting industrial control and operational systems data operations from end-to-end.
  • Help identify gaps in ICS and OT tooling and recommend products that improve performance, stability and integration of grid-scale power production systems.
Qualified

Candidate should possess

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred but not mandatory.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with manufacturing IT, operational technologies (OT), or Industrial Control System (ICS) environments.
  • Proficiency implementing or supporting security best practices and technologies (e.g. risk or vulnerability assessments, antivirus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, centralized alert logging and monitoring in ICS environments).
  • Demonstrated experience working with a range of automation vendors, systems and components that support the following standards: OPC UA, OPC DA, PROFINET, PROFISAFE, PROFIBUS, Modbus and SCADA.
  • Proficiency developing and implementing ICS and OT data conversion services (e.g., converting PROFINET, PROFIBUS, SCADA ßà OPC UA).
  • Experience with AWS SiteWise or other cloud-based services that collect and process industrial data is highly desired but not required.
  • Experience in ICS and OT penetration testing, and application security is highly desired but not required.
  • Strong communication skills, work ethic, aptitude, and passion to learn
  • We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with a fast-moving environment and can learn quickly.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, required.
