About

The Role

As our first Test Engineer, you will improve upon the design of the various operational hardware components of our towers/buildings. You will push to failure our trolleys, weldments, electric motors, bearings, hydraulics, and other mechatronics. Your work includes travel ~25% to field sites (both domestic and international). Ideally, you will be able to work part of the time in our Westlake Village, CA office as well; one work-from-home day each week is permitted.

you will do

  • Learn our technology, collaborating with engineers (mechanical, electrical, geotech, civil), project developers, and others at Energy Vault.
  • Create test campaigns, plans, and acceptance criteria, taking into account industry regulations and best practice.
  • Monitor and collect data via acquisition systems.
  • Write reports on component performance.
  • Iterate upon and streamline processes, improving efficiency and reliability of the testing operations.

Qualified

Candidate will possess

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline
  • 3+ years’ work experience, and/or excellent project experience in school
  • Experience with data acquisition hardware and software
  • Familiarity with mechanical design standards, tolerancing and GD&T.
  • Understanding of international design standards (UL, CE, etc.).
  • Proven ability to perform design-for-manufacture optimization processes.
  • Basic weld design, analysis and inspection knowledge/experience.
  • Experience with special purpose machinery, bearings, couplings, motors.
  • Experience commissioning and documenting complex mechanical systems.
  • Ability to travel for vendor visits, test site support, field installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • As a team player, independence and comfort working under pressure.
