About

The Role

As Senior Civil Engineer, you will collaborate with the project structural mechanical and electric design groups to determine the engineering suitability of a proposed site. You create a detailed assessment of the general foundation engineering, project layout, site grading and drainage control, access road siting, and any other aspect of project civil engineering. Your duties also include assisting with the development of the project execution plan, project estimating, procurement planning, and overall project scheduling.

What

you will do

  • Assess each project site civil engineering aspects, identifying unique engineering challenges for each and proposing engineering mitigation approaches to address these challenges.
  • With an EV Senior Geotechnical Engineer, characterize the foundation conditions from a design perspective and provide input to structural engineers on the geotechnical conditions that effect foundation size and type.
  • Prepare all site layout drawings for the location of all permanent features, including the EV tower itself, the supporting structures (offices and warehouses), routing of critical infrastructure (power, telecom, water, wastewater), transformers, switchyards, access roads, parking lots and any other required facilities.
  • Design of all grading and drainage features to be in code compliance with general drainage runoff, erosion control and preparation of all stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP).
  • As our company grows, recruit and manage staff at a level appropriate to overall company need.
  • Prepare conceptual engineer’s estimates for all site civil actions.

Qualified

Candidate will possess

  • BS degree in Engineering from and ABET-accredited institution. MS degree preferred.
  • 10+ relevant experience, typically post-graduation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the U.S.
  • Extensive general civil engineering design and construction experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience with computer aided drafting and design (CADD) and preferably competency in Autodesk Civil 3D and comparable software.
  • Experience in the power industry, with a working understanding of electrical grid requirements.
  • Strong background in steel and concrete foundation structure design and construction.
  • Extensive experience in site grading and drainage design.
  • Specific national and/or international experience in SWPPP development in accordance with National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and code compliance.
