As intermittent energy sources increase, the grid requires fast-responding flexible resources to fill power gaps and regulate the grid. The SOSA Energy Center helps stabilize the grid, reduce congestion, and ensure reliable power delivery to homes and businesses across Texas.

Not only does the SOSA Energy Center bring stronger local grid reliability and resilience to Madison County, it also offers economic development, job creation and consistent local revenue streams. SOSA will generate ongoing tax revenue and land lease payments which can support schools, infrastructure and public services — an estimated $9.3M to North Zulch ISD and Madison County over a 10-year period. Energy Vault expects the project to generate over 65 jobs during construction and represent a local investment of $100M in Madison County.

Yes. The SOSA Energy Center is designed to meet or exceed all applicable fire, electrical, and safety standards. The system includes multiple layers of safety, including:

• Advanced thermal management
• Fire detection and suppression systems
• 24/7 remote monitoring
• Emergency response coordination with local authorities

The SOSA project uses industry-leading BESS technology that has been deployed worldwide, with containerized, outdoor, physically separated units designed to prevent fire propagation. Along with the BESS, Energy Vault uses its very own Energy Management System (EMS) to allow for early detection, rapid isolation, and immediate response.
