Energy Vault is the creator of renewable energy storage products that are transforming the world’s approach to utility-scale energy storage for grid resiliency. As Senior Electrical Engineer you will work on the company’s electrical power distribution, architecture, and mid-voltage design practice. You will develop and maintain documentation for approved grid-interconnection. You will set up workflows and attainable goals with emphasis on interoperability and testing.
Ideally, you will be able to work part of the time in our Westlake Village, CA office; we allow the flexibility of work-from-home days.
you will do
Design and project planning of complex electrotechnical equipment for industrial plants with drives, controls, automation.
Select and size electrotechnical components based on power consumption, environmental conditions, short circuit behavior, etc.
Create CAD-supported drafts and generation of circuit documents, cabinet assembly plans, cable planning and routing (e.g., with EPlan P8).
Perform cost and complexity trade studies on electrical system design.
Generate system and component requirements and communicate these with customers and suppliers.
Accept electrotechnical equipment from subcontractors.
Prepare module-oriented solutions and documentation.
Optimize technology-oriented solutions with respect to costs, quality, and delivery times.
Produce block diagrams, 1-line and 3-line diagrams and schematics.
Support panel design and layout efforts.

Candidate will possess
Electrical engineering or equivalent degree.
7+ years’ field experience in crane, mining or metals systems, control and automation systems, controlled drive technology, field buses, HMI systems, as well as in the design and project planning of electrical components and systems for low and medium voltage systems.
Familiarity with international design standards (UL, CE, etc.).
Construction and installation experience.
Experience commissioning and documenting electronic systems.
High schedule flexibility.
Ability to travel for vendor visits, test site support, field installation, startup, and commissioning.

Professional Engineer certification.
Proficiency with multidisciplinary coordination and communication.
Demonstrated ability to perform early phase trade studies, design, and ultimate commissioning.
Familiarity with Project Data Management and requirements tracking systems.
Competency with both VFD based AC motor design and DC brushless motor design/generation.
Proven ability to produce compliance and test documentation/reports to support approved electrical system design/grid-compliant tie-in per approved standards.
