Energy Vault is the creator of renewable energy storage products that are transforming the world’s approach to utility-scale energy storage for grid resiliency. As Industrial Automation Engineer, you will own the component communication within our energy storage towers. You will meld electronic controls of assembly processes, understanding all the moving parts including trolleys, winches, and elevators. You will ensure that the software properly directs the hardware movements in a safe and efficient manner.
Ideally, you will be able to work part of the time in our Westlake Village, CA office; we allow the flexibility of work-from-home days.
you will do
Participate in reviews and work with mechanical engineers to ensure proper implementation of features.
Interpret mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
Evaluate and document system cost/complexity trade studies.
Design and evaluate system according to safety regulations and NEC and European requirements.
Understand requirements for GUI/communication interfaces, networking and create specifications based on these requirements.
Develop electrical design, schematics and drawings in CAD.
Research supplier products for components, specify and select automation components.
Develop electrical controls bills of material.
Deploy and configure system components per application specifications.

Candidate will possess
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
7+ years’ field experience in control and industrial automation systems.
Familiarity with international design standards (UL, CE, etc.).
Experience commissioning and documenting electronic systems.
Network connectivity experience.
High schedule flexibility.
Ability to travel for vendor visits, test site support, field installation, startup, and commissioning.
Experience with Siemens Automation systems for elevators and trolleys.
Experience with crane, mining/metals systems, controlled drive technology, field buses, HMI systems.
Demonstrated ability to perform early phase trade studies, design, and ultimate commissioning.
Familiarity with Project Data Management and requirements tracking systems.
Competency with both VFD based AC motor drive design and DC brushless motor drive design and power generation.
Proven ability to produce compliance and test documentation/reports to support approved electrical system design and grid-compliant tie-in per approved standards.
